Asus Eee Makeover Craft

I didn’t take it seriously when I read that the “fingerprinty” nature of the Asus Eee is really annoying.  I thought, how bad could it be?

Well, it is really bad.  In fact, what was I thinking when I read a commentary written by a man about fingerprints and didn’t clue in to the fact that I must practically smack my husband over the head to get him to notice such things?

So, for the past several weeks, I have been intending to cover up the constantly fingerprint spotted outer shell.  Today, I finally grabbed a roll of textured plastic laminate and a nearby photo and slapped them on to the outside of the Asus.

Voila!  No fingerprints.  My crafty little endeavor reminds me of covering books in High School with paper bags and then drawing all over them.  It looks that professional.  It is however, cleaner and sans fingerprints.

And the fact that the nearest photo was an extra copy of our wedding, is incredibly fascinating to our four year old.  She says I’m dressed as a princess.  Every day is dress-up and pretend to her.  Excellent, hours of entertainment from a found photo and a bit of laminate.

I should, and eventually will order a skin.  But for the moment, my need for an immediate solution to the fingerprints is met.

Oh, covering books with paper bags in high school was one of my favorite activities. It was a lovely blank canvass for …stuff!

We also covered our locker in blank paper (I shared a locker with a friend of mine) and throughout the year had people write little notes or doodles in it. I still have the papers from my senior year of high school. Crazy, no? They’re covered in quotes and pictures and memories. I love it.
