Why do I hate camping?

I hate camping. My sil recently mentioned that she loves camping. I respect this. I, however, hate camping.

I hate bugs, heat, and having to walk to a public toilet – if there is a toilet. Yuk.

I do love nature. I like to visit it for the day, then return home to my shower. I am a big fan of waterfall hikes followed by indoor plumbing.

I applaud civilizations ability to maintain clean (or at least not deadly), running water.

I like to photograph nature and hang it on my wall to be admired a nice safe distance from ants, wasps, and anything else that might kill me. Sleeping on the ground with such creatures is not my idea of a good time.

I like the zoo: where the bears are separated from me by a fence.

Usually we do not have a toilet. ;-)

I don’t particularly like camping in July or August, mind you. It’s way too hot. Mostly I prefer September and October, as autumn is my favorite time of year.
